As 2025 unfolds, Amazon has introduced a number of important policy updates that directly impact sellers. Some are already in effect, while others are shaping seller strategy for the rest of the year. In this first blog, we’ll cover critical updates to Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA), product listings, and internal company policies that may affect your seller experience.
1. Major Changes to FBA Reimbursements
Two significant FBA policy changes rolled out in Q1 and Q2 of 2025:
Claim Window Shrinks: Since January 9, 2025, sellers now have just 2 months (down from 18 months) to file claims for inventory lost or damaged by Amazon before a customer order.
Cost-Based Reimbursements: Effective March 31, 2025, reimbursements are now based on manufacturing cost, not retail price. Sellers can provide this cost through the "Manage Your Manufacturing Cost" tool—if not, Amazon uses its own estimate. Reimbursements are capped at £2,000 per item.
2. New Product Title Guidelines Enforced
Starting January 21, 2025, Amazon began enforcing stricter product title rules:
Character Limits Per Category: Each category now has a defined title character limit and formatting guidelines.
Listings Remain Active During Transition: While listings were not removed during the rollout, failure to comply could now affect visibility and performance.
3. Amazon’s Workforce Back in the Office Full-Time
On January 2, 2025, Amazon ended its hybrid work policy and brought employees back to the office five days a week.
While this doesn’t directly impact sellers, it may influence:
Faster program rollouts
Improved internal coordination
More responsive support teams
