The challenge they faced on Amazon

STV has attempted to recover funds owed for overages and shortages directly from Amazon but has been unsuccessful.

Amazon’s system complicates the process of tracking outstanding amounts, using a complex invoicing structure where multiple "sub-invoices" stem from a primary "SCR" invoice. If an SCR invoice remains unpaid for too long, it is removed from the dashboard, making it challenging to monitor and recover these outstanding funds.

In addition, Amazon’s limited visibility into historical transactions further complicates recovery efforts. With invoices potentially spanning numerous sub-invoice entries, tracking discrepancies becomes increasingly difficult without a consolidated, easily accessible record. Consequently, STV faces significant barriers in verifying overages and shortages, often requiring manual reconciliation or intervention from Amazon support, which can be a lengthy process. This lack of transparency creates a substantial administrative burden, impacting STV’s ability to efficiently manage outstanding balances and resulting in delayed recoveries.

The solution that RT7 provided

In April, STV engaged RT7 to investigate outstanding recoveries. We conducted a comprehensive 5-year audit to identify all account anomalies, and RT7 raised disputes through Amazon for each discrepancy.

We disputed all amounts identified, invoiced for any missed billings, and negotiated with Amazon to secure the best possible settlement on outstanding amounts.

Implementation

Through this meticulous audit process, RT7 uncovered numerous discrepancies that had previously gone unnoticed, including unclaimed overages and shortages that had affected STV’s financials.

Thanks to our advanced software and proven recovery methods, RT7 identified additional charges unknown to STV and successfully recovered the funds within five months. This process was fully managed by RT7, requiring no input from STV, with monthly reports and feedback provided along with support for reconciliation.

The results

We initiated this process in May 2024, conducting a thorough review of all outstanding discrepancies. By mid-September, our efforts had resulted in the successful recovery of £100,000 in shortages and overages. This achievement reflects our commitment to maximising STV's financial accuracy and demonstrates the effectiveness of our systematic approach to identifying and reclaiming unaccounted funds.
